Miss Amelia Bourne is being punished. She is sent to London to be introduced to polite society and find a husband, all because of a little mishap regarding her magical powers which turned her uncle's house blue. Having grown up with magic, it is nothing new to her but having them taken away and being sent to stay with the Bentham's, is almost too much to bear. With a mean spirited Mrs. Bentham and a daughter who is fast approaching spinsterhood, they both delight in belittling her at every chance they get.

Amy first meets Sebastian Stapleton, or Fox as he's known to his friends, at a ball. Fox learns that his friend Andrew, who is quick to fall in love, has fallen for Amy. They dance the waltz together and take an instant dislike to one another. Amy finds Fox to be a cold fish and Fox finds Amy to be too fanciful. But when Andrew's love for Amy subsides, and he finds himself in a jam trying to get out of taking Amy to a musicale, he convinces Fox to take Amy to instead.

While at the event where Fox and Amy suffer each others company, they drink some punch, which happens to contain a potion, and instantly, they fall in love. They both become blissfully happy, and are unaware of the danger that is out to get them and is trying to ruin their happiness.

Sandra Schwab has written another unique and captivating story. Amy is an intelligent and likable heroine, who isn't afraid to risk everything for those she cares for. Fox is an enigmatic hero, who has demons of his own and therefore never thought to find love, but Amy helps him to get past all of that. I loved the magical element in this story. It doesn't over power the book and yet it is used in just the right amount.
