My journey in Gaelen Foley’s world started when giving in to temptation I pick up a book that everyone on the board was talking about, LORD OF FIRE. I would admit to you that in the beginning I was a little weary in trying a new author. A long time romance reader and historical lover, disappointed with so many historical writers leaving the field for contemporary suspense, I almost give up on the genre after trying so many new historical authors that would not satisfy entirely my craving for a good historical romance.
A good historical writer it is something rare to come by these days for me. With that in mind I pick up LORD OF FIRE and what better guide for a newcomer into Gaelen’s world than Lucien Knight? The dark, elegant, sophisticate spy captured my imagination and made it to my all time favorite romance heroes shortly into the book.
I fell hard for Lucian Knight, so hard in fact that he had me running to the bookstores for any book that Foley ever wrote, searching for a glimpse of him in any of Knight Miscellany books and waiting with anticipation for the new releases of the author.
I traveled with Lucien into the world of spies and intrigue and I continue my journey with THE DUKE, his grace of Hawkscliffe and his Belle into the world of cyprians and from rich to poor of Regency England.
And I have seen the ravage of Peninsular War with, Colonel Lord Damien Knight, the LORD OF ICE. With the headstrong and spoiled Lady of Desire, Jacinda, I traveled to the dark alley of London’s underworld; where we both meet and fall love with the Master thief Billy Blade. And with Lizzie on DEVIL TAKES A BRIDE, I learned that love could heal the deepest wounds.
Leaving the Knights behind I traveled further in Foley’s word to the golden shores of Ascencion and on the high sea with THE PIRATE PRINCE, Lazar did Fiore and the beautiful Allegra, his love and the daughter of his enemy. The story of a prince seeking his revenge and finding his love, what an adventure and beautiful romantic tale!
Gaelen made my heart to ache for the dark, tortured Darius Santiago, the Spanish bodyguard that feel in love with a Princess, and under Ascension’s moonlight she took me on a perilous adventure with the Masked Rider to meet PRINCE CHARMING the heir to the throne and royal rake.
Gaelen Foley is a talented author and her stories are a joy for this historical romance lover. She knows how to create a strong, tortured, very complex male character that would seduce the reader and keep me awake late into the night to finish his story. Her heroes are unforgettable and her heroine’s knows how to tame a rake.
From the shores of Ascencion to Peninsular battlefields and to the slums of Regency London; from a fairy- tale world of Ascencion’s Court to a well-done Regency romantic suspense, Gaelen’s books keeps me on the edges turning page after page. She is not shy in taking a risk, sometimes dealing with issues that otherwise coming from a less talented author would ruin the book for this traditional romance reader. Not so with Gaelen. While I like some of her books more than others and while I would not consider all of her stories five Pink Heart romance book, the highest honor that a romance can get within our small community of readers here, I have yet to be let down by this author. Her name hit my auto-buy list after the first reading of LORD OF FIRE. I never regretted it because from then on I could count on Gaelen to give me a few hours of good entertainment with every new story by her. She has at least two more stories, in her Knight Miscellaneous to tell us; the golden rake Alex and the elusive Jack’s story and I can hardly wait for the her next new releases.

I would admit that while I cannot wait for Alex and of course, the much-anticipated Jack’s story I am excited about the possibility of new adventures and travels beyond the Knight Miscellaneous.
