This was the headline on my homepage. I stopped reading JE's novels around the 2nd or 3rd book, but would likely go to see the movie because it was filmed in and around our fair city. Wink

An online friend sent me this link regarding author, Janet Evanovich.....why I don't know...because she knows I stopped reading her after the 2nd book. Apparently JE wanted TONS of money from her publisher, St.Martins. Shocked

PITTSBURGH -- Don't be surprised if you see a famous face or two around Pittsburgh in the next few weeks. Not one, but two major Hollywood productions are filming in the area.

The new Katherine Heigl movie "One For the Money" will start shooting in Beaver County around Ambridge this week, and filming is expected to continue through August.

The movie is based on the popular novel by Janet Evanovich and features Heigl as the main character Stephanie Plum.

Fans of the "Twilight" movie franchise who want to catch a glimpse of another star might want to spend some time in Mt. Lebanon.

Taylor Lautner is in Pittsburgh filming a new movie called "Abduction" and production is expected to move to the North Hills and Hampton High School this week.

Lautner made a surprise appearance at the AMC Loews Waterfront movie theater recently to promote "Eclipse," the latest installment in the vampire franchise.

I read about her demanding 50 million dollars for four books at Dear Author a few days ago. My first thought was, who the hell does she think she is, J.K. Rowling? Grin

Seriously, and not to offend her fans, but that is asking far too much. Maybe if it was Stephen King, I could possibly understand, but a chick lit author? Speechless

And her son is her agent now? Is he even qualified? It appears to me that her head is getting a wee bit big.

I've never read a JE book, though I did skim the first Stephanie Plum novel and it didn't really interest me. I definitely wouldn't start the series now, after hearing that Stephanie Plum's character is never going to grow and change. What is the point in having a series if the main character is never going to change? I know some people might prefer that, but you can continue to develop a character without changing their core personality. It's got to be creatively stifling as well.

I might give the movie a try, just to see how it is.

Terri there is even some talk about her daughter taking up the writing of the series. Some of her fans feel there has been a definite change in the writing. Personally I cannot vouch for the change because after the first two or three of her novels, I got bored. They might, just might...hand over that kind of contract to say Nora Roberts, but JE is dreaming or maybe her son, the agent, has his head in the clouds, LOL Roll Eyes

Oh, wow. $40 million for her last four books is already A LOT. $50 million is INSANE. But kudos for her if she gets it from somewhere

OK--I've got to check this out! I've read all the Plum novels and am currently reading the latest, Sizzling Sixteen. They are not great literature but funny escapism books. They work for me! I'd love to see the movie. From the picture posted above, the actress does resemble how Stephanie looks in the books. Any idea who plays Morelli and Ranger? Wink

To me, the Rock would be a good Ranger; I can picture Queen Latifah as Lula and Steve Buscemi would be the perfect Vinnie

I have never read the books but have friends that rave about the series. Good for her but - boy is that a lot of money to demand in this economy! I'd be happy to still have loyal fans and accept far less. But I'm not a big author!
