Robert B. Parker  ( on: March 06, 2010, 06:32:51 AM)

Sad, sad news.  I just read this morning that one of my favorite authors died.  The late, great Robert B. Parker died suddenly on January 18; he was 77 years old.  He died of a massive heart attack--while writing his next novel at his desk.  Possibley little pain and passing on while doing what he loved best.

I've always loved mysteries and found his books real page-turners.  He had a writing style all his own and will be missed by his fans. I didn't hear about his death on the news or websites until I went to his website to see when his next book was coming out.  I even loved the Spenser TV series with Robert Urich (a good actor who died too young and too soon) and now there are movies with Tom Selleck playing Jesse Stone.

If you like great mysteries/detective stories, give one of RBP's books a read.
Rest in Peace, Robert...

I believe great authors, actors, artists, etc.   are irreplaceable.  It's truly sad when one passes away, that talent and style is gone forever.

RIP...  Seems like he left too young yet he is only a year younger than my stepdad...who will be leaving us sooner than I'd like.

At least it was quick and he was doing what he liked at the time!

True...and their words and characters will live forever.

My goal this summer is to read all of the Spenser books in order; I think there are 37 and I know I've read about a dozen.
