We celebrate our 38th anniversary on the 12th.  We are going to dinner and I am hoping that we do not get seated by the kitchen like we normally do.  I'm beginning to think when we walk in a restaurant the waitress sees an invisible sign on our forheads  "Seat these dummies by the kitchen so they can't have a decent conversation".  Don't get me started on our New Year's Eve adventure at a local french bistro.....it was so bad we couldn't help but laugh.....

you know what? if you all are up for it, maybe we can each take a picture, wherever we are, with whomever we are, sometime on the weekend of valentine's day and share them here.  (adair, you can send me any pictures you want privately...)  Tongue  Kiss

do you think that would be fun or no? let's only do it if we get a good turnout. let me know what you think.

We'llbe home.  Valentine's Day falls on the kids winter vacation this year.  I'm hoping to at least get a nice salad from TGIF's that night!

We are thinking about going out to our favorite bistro but may opt to stay at home and make our own romantic dinner.  I want to make Ina Garten's mussels in white wine.  I made this as an appetizer for my husband's birthday and he raved about it.  I'm going to have it with linguine., crusty bread and a green salad for a complete dinner.  Not sure about dessert, yet.

Sandy, at our favorite restaurant, there is a counter called the chef's table and you can see you meal being prepared.  I love it.  Somehow at this place, there's just the right amount of background noise.  We can carry on a conversation the atmosphere is quite pleasant.  Now...there is a waitress there and we ask not to sit in her section.  She always seems to butt right into our conversation and she got a little tipsy on New Year's Eve, dropping f-bombs and just being overall annoying.  Other than that, the chef there is a real chef and comes to your table towards the end of the meal.  Each month he has a dinner with wine pairings.  Last month was French and this month it's Russian.  Considering where we live, this place is a gem.

Laura, we have a few of those places where the chef comes out.  There is a place close by where you get a 4 course meal with wine pairings.  but you can also chose to let the chef prepare for you a customized dinner.  The waitress just asks what your likes and dislikes are and any allergies.  This was alot of fun because hubby and I both had something different for each coarse and wine to go with each.  It's amazing how the wine enhances the food you are eating.  It was pretty pricey thought, I think it ended up costing over $200.

Sounds wonderful!  What did y'all order? When we do the wine dinners, our bill is about $200, too.  But...that's why we work!  I know what you mean about the wine. When I make a special dinner, I like to do a little research on what wine will go with the main course.  With all the snow we've had here for the past few days, I think we're going with the romantic dinner at home.  Hopefully, we'll be able to head out this weekend for some filets and the mussels.  If not, it's a big bowl of pasta and a bottle of chianti--not too shabby.   Grin

Hubby and I are babysitting tonight.   My daughter works in Children's Hospital and has to be there at 7 AM.   Her idiot husband has a paper route and delivers about 400 papers an on Sundays with still a lot of snow on the ground will take him about 4 hours to complete.Need I say more about how I feel about this imbecile?

Originally we planned to go out to dinner, but instead will do a late lunch today.

Happy Valentine's Day all!  My sisiter wll be taking the kids for the night.  A win -win situation.  My older girls watch my youngest and her four kids, while we all go out for a few hours.  The adults will be heading out to a movie while the kids get to play and watch videos at home.  My husband and I will have the house to ourselves for the first time in over a year!
