Highland Rebel by Judith James  ( on: October 17, 2009, 11:38:26 PM)

Just started reading this little gem (okay not so little, the book is close to 500 pages).  However in the first pages you have a battle, you have harden mercenery warrior control even worse mercery slime, saving our warrior heroine from rape and death, only to force her into marriage and of course the hero tends to remain drunk when he isn't killing folks and trying to get a good night sleep.  In other words the first 36 pages are a real doozy and I sincerely hope she can keep up with this pace.  I'm loving the hero because he is a real scoundrel with just a touch of chivalry.  As to the heroine...a bit of a hellcat so far.  Great book....so far.

SO has anyone else read this book, run across it in the bookstore, heard of the author?Huh?

Finished this book...to say it is a great book is giving it scant praise.  It is a phenominal book that held me throughout.  In someways it reminded me of Brenda Joyce The Game. And in some ways of Kathleen Givens and Jane Feather.   In other ways...well it was the authors unique creation, story telling and I look forward to entering the next new world she creates.  Historically she is very accurate, good at creating the time period and her characters are to die for.  Very three demisional.  Now as to her happy endings...it doesn't tie up into a nice neat bow...instead your left with you've journeyed with them on a bit of their lives and they are going off to fulfill the rest of their destiny.  I love this type of ending.

If I have time I'll write a review of the book.  It is worth the read!

I haven't heard of this author but I just bought the book.  It sounds like a great read.

Let me know how you feel about the book.  I've already re-read it once.  I think its the best book that I read in 2009.  Just a different take...a bit of a throwback at the sametime.
