My Lady of Cleves  ( on: May 17, 2009, 11:32:18 AM)

I'm reading My Lady Cleves, by Margaret Campbell Barnes.  I really enjoy her writing and historical look of The Tudor Era.

Hmm sounds like a good book...i'll put it on the list.

Sourcebooks.com has the rights to her books.  She wrote them in the 1950 area.  But I just love them.  As they are releasing them I am buying them....LOL.

So far I have read

Brief Gaudy Hour -- Anne Boleyn --

King's Fool -- Henry and his six wives.

This one which is really good.  Can't seem to put it down and the next one coming out in October 09 is the The Tudor Rose - Elizabeth of York

Adair, I lost one of your posts in an attempt to split the topic...sorry. OK, I split it because I loved this book, I stayed up until 2 am finishing it. I would love to discuss this book!  I have some thoughts on it.

Not really spoilers... however there marriage was doomed from the start.  It was after their divorce that they really got to know each other and became friends of sorts.  She was quite the woman and Queen.

I don't like the Howards at all after reading this book.  Charles Brandon, I fell in love with him during this book.  I would love to read a story about him with Henry, his wives and court life secondary.  To see inside him and the tortures and torment he has endured by being the Kings best friend.  He really mourned the loss of Mary (kings sister) which he talks about openly to Anne about.  Him and Anne had a true honest to lay the feelings bare friendship that only came about after her divorce from Henry.   Their divorce was odd... seriously who goes from wife to sister just like that.  Anne really had some fun with the Howards near the end of this book... she made them squirm and the rest of the court.

You will like it Adair, as will Margaret and Maria, Mookie...hint hint! and anybody else who reads Tudor Era Historical Fiction.
