Can't remember the title of a book. ( on: February 01, 2009, 10:12:42 AM)

About 5 years ago a read a book about a tea trader who was out for revenge...so pretended to be a romantic novel enthusiast to seduce a young Byron fan who is the daughter of an enemy. He had a horse named Lap Seng. (After the tea, but misspelled in the book.) They get married and she starts to wear dragons on her clothes etc. as it is something he collects. She is VERY good with money and starts funding retirement funds for her staff. Any ideas. I have NO idea the author or anything. It is driving me crazy.

I did some searching and I think the book you are talking about is Scandal by Amanda Quick.

Here's the Amazon link: Scandal and a link to the review which makes me think this is the book you are looking for (it talks about the heroine being good with money, wearing dragons on her clothes and jewelry etc.): Review.

Welcome! I read a book that involve tea by Mary Jo Putney several years ago that was great! I'll have to read this one. I do like Amanda Quick and I wouldn't mind reading an MJP book either!

Terry is right, the book it is without any doubts Scandal by Amanda Quick, one of my favorites authors.
I’ve read and reread that book over the years and loved it. The hero is Simon Augustus Traherne, Earl of Blade, the heroine Emily Farringdon, the horse Lap Seng

. Simon has an aunt, his only relative, by the name Araminta.
Emily’s father ruined Simon’s father years back and the Earl of Blade is in for revenge. Part of his revenge is to take Emily away from the Faringdons. Emily has a head for business and investments and she is their only source of income. She lives in the country at St Clair Hall, the house that used to be the Earl of Blade ( Simon’s father ) house. More information would spoiled it for the rest of you here .

It is a good and funny book, published in the early ‘90s. Quick’s older books are great.

Persophene I trust that you will someday find our little Dorlyn. I know she is out there...just waiting to come home. Funny I dreamed about a dragon last night. A very beautiful purple dragon with hot pink diamond stillato heels, a ruby red purse and a gorgious ruby and pearl necklace. Not sure what happened or why I had that dream...just made me laugh out loud in my sleep. Joe says no more blood red oranges before bedtime...my laughing woke him up.

Thank YOU ALL!!! That is the book. I have raked my brain. I loved the book and wanted to read more by the author. I picked it up in the UK at a street fair. I then got into other authors and then forgot who wrote the book and left the book in the UK.

I have another book request. Want to say it was Johanna Lyndsey. The book is about the Romanov family. Involved the girl cousins before the family was murdered. I can't remember all the details. My daughter is studying that period in history and it reminded me of the great book I read & would love to reread!

Possible Once a Princess or You Belong to Me the sequel? I’ve not read Lindsay in years and its just a shot in the dark . I think though the two titles may be before Romanovs, I honestly don't remember.

I'm a bit embarrassed. Cleaning out my closet and what do I find? Zoyz, a novel set during the Romanov era! Thank you for responding Margaret. I looked up the Lindsey books you suggested and found them to be quite interesting. May have to add to my summer reading list!
